Staff Information

This page provides important general information that you need to know before you attend work as a Butler and Blackberry employee. Please read carefully.

Induction

As part of its Total Quality Service policy, Butler and Blackberry requires its employees to conform to national OH&S standards by completing a free on-line induction course with WorkPro.

  • Applicants MUST complete WorkPro's On-Hired Employment Safety (OHS) induction module. You will first need to register in order to complete the short course.
  • As part of the induction process, you will receive a Candidate Information Number (CIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN). You will need to provide us with your CIN and PIN (to be included in the cover letter section), for us to access your information and consider your application.

Timesheets

Our Clients are faxed through the timesheets prior to the shift. It is your responsibility to complete and sign your time sheet.

At the completion of every shift and it is to be signed by the supervising manager on duty. Our clients keep the timesheets and fax them back to us every Monday. Time sheets can also be printed off our web site. Remember, no signed timesheets - no pay!

Pay Week

Our pay week is Monday to Sunday and pays will be directly debited into your chosen bank account every Thursday, and your pay slip will be distributed weekly via email. Changes to your address, bank details or taxation status along with any pay queries can be lodged by email to melissa@butlerandblackberry.com

If you have been issued a uniform and it has not been returned before the pay week end, the cost of the uniform will be deducted from your pay.

Phone Calls

All personal telephone calls should be made from a public telephone. In case of an emergency your supervisor or manager will pass on a telephone message to you.

Mobile Phones

Whilst on duty it is company policy not to carry or have your mobile switched on.

Evacuation Procedures

Evacuation procedures should be given the highest priority, and should be rapid and orderly. At the the beginning of your shift if this is not covered in the briefing, please ask the manager or supervisor for procedures along with any other OH&S cautions.

Fire Safety

If you discover smoke and suspect a fire, or any kind of emergency immediately call your supervisor or manager, report the conditions you see.

Punctuality

All staff must arrive 15 - 20 minutes before start time at functions. This allows for changing uniforms and signing in. For BIG events (eg: Aria's), 30 mins is advised.

If running late for a shift, contact the office or the representative you are to meet at the venue. Do this as early as possible, thus we can keep our clients informed.

Please introduce yourself to person in charge of event and explain your reason for being there (i.e. I am your wait person from Butler and Blackberry, for you party.)

Personal Behaviour

Our guests expect and deserve a high standard of courtesy and service and as we are in the service industry it is the responsibility of each individual to provide the highest standards at all times. Guests must feel welcome at all times to leave a lasting impression of our warm friendly service.

Please remember the following points when dealing with our patrons.

  • Always smile (even on the phone) and greet guests by their preferred name (if you know it) when you see them.
  • Never discuss personal business in public areas.
  • Never be critical of Butler & Blackberry to your colleagues or guests.
  • Always wear your uniform with pride and check your appearance regularly whilst on duty.
  • Always wear your uniform when on premises.
  • If you are not wearing a uniform to the venue, upon arrival, promptly get changed. Observing the 'ironed' state of attire if not respectable, you may be sent home.
  • Do not stay on establishment's premises if you are not in uniform.
  • Do not visit colleagues on other areas of an establishment.
  • Making personal phone calls whilst on duty is not permitted.
  • Mobile phones are not to be kept on your person whilst on duty.

Grooming

  • All staff must have neatly styled hair not touching the collar.
  • Long hair to be tied back off the shoulders and face. Accessories for hair should be small and black only.
  • Clean, neatly manicured nails, no nail polish.
  • Clear polish is acceptable.
  • Only one pair of earings (small studs or sleepers) is permitted. Maximum, one earing per ear.
  • No nose rings or facial piercing is permitted.
  • Jewellery should be minimal: no bracelets or visible chains.
  • Wedding and engagement rings or no more than one dress ring is to be worn on either hand.
  • Perfumes / colognes with a strong fragrance should be avoided.
  • Clean shave daily.
  • Pay particular attention to oral hygiene
  • Arrive for duty clean, after daily shower or bath wearing an effective antiperspirant / deodorant.
  • Maintain clean hands through frequent washing(mandatory after using toilet.)
  • Ensure that your uniform is both clean and neatly pressed and worn in the prescribed manner.
  • Have no visible tattoos.
  • Chewing gum while on duty is not permitted.
